Blow-Out Cremes: Luxe VS. Less

Fall is a fabulous time for frizz-prone hair. The low humidity and crisp temps make blowing out extra curly, wavy or kinky strands almost one hundred times easier.

That said, if you don’t have a use a good blow-out crème while you style, you can still end up with lackluster results no matter what the season. In this Luxe Vs. Less, we compare blow-out products. All of them work well — it’s up to you to decide how much you’re willing to spend for smooth and silky strands your blow-out at home.

FOR CURLY HAIR

Bumble and bumble Curl Conscious Calming Crème, $29
Naturally curly hair needs plenty of moisture when it’s being blown out straight. Hydration is key in order to calm coarseness and loosen tight, frizzy curls. This crème is excellent because it does all of the above, without adding weight to your straightened style.

VS.

Garnier Fructis Style Curl Calm Down Anti-Frizz Cream, $4
This $4 bottle of frizz-fighting creme smells amazing, and it straightens out bumpy strands with intensely nourishing ingredients, such as Shea. It also calms curls for up to 24 hours, leaving it shiny, smooth and worth all the effort you out into your blow out.

FOR SERIOUS FRIZZ

Drybar Hot Toddy Heat Protector Frizz Fighter, $33
If your major blow-drying issue is less about calming curls and more about fighting frizz, this creme from Drybar might be your best bet. It contains artichoke leaf extract, which binds to each strand of hair, preserving and sealing the cuticle, leaving it smooth and sleek.

VS.

TRESemme Anti-Frizz Secret Smoothing Crème, $4
Just a dime-sized amount of this creme, spread evenly throughout your hair, is all you need to tame flyaways and get you of frizz while you blow out your hair. The formula is also super light-weight, so if you want to on add a little extra after you’re all straightened out, it will add a nice, non-sticky, style-enhancing sheen.

FOR MOROCCAN OIL FANS

MOROCCANOIL Treatment, $43
This incredibly popular (and incredible smelling) treatment is a great option for hair that’s not terribly difficult to smooth, but could use added luster and sheen out during a blow dry. It’s also great for damaged, brittle hair, as it’s filled with antioxidant-rich argan oil, hair strengthening proteins and shine-boosting vitamins.

VS.

Organix Moroccan Smooth Perfection Blow Out Cream, $6
Organix’s blow out creme also contains Moroccan oil, which is simply argan oil infused with additional ingredients, such as vitamin E and aloe vera. It’s incredibly nourishing, smells divine, smooths your strands and cuts down on drying time, which will protect your hair from the harmful, moisture-zapping damage that heat tools can inflict upon your hair.

FOR KERATIN HAIR REPAIR

Keratin Perfect ‘PerfectSmooth’ Blowout Booster Styling Cream, $34
Keratin is one of the key components that make up human hair (in addition skin and nails) so naturally, it’s something we want to enhance and protect. And doing so will make for a beautiful blow out. This styling creme mends damaged keratin bonds, which fills in the uneven surface texture that can make hair look frizzy, lifeless and dull.

VS.

Pantene Pro-V Smooth Blow Dry Crème, $6
Pantene’s creme is formulated to protect the keratin in your hair while you blow dry, which makes for a silky, frizz-free look. This is a great product to use if you blow dry often, because it will shield that precious keratin each and every time you style.
