New York-based designer Mara Hoffman held a presentation of her Fall 2010 collection last week. To add to the dreamy mood of her clothes, she decided to integrate artist elements –specifically, an original film and a musical performance.
The short film was called Hysterical Levitation and featured a collage-like dream setting, following four witches as they fell into “hysterical levitation.” The film starred rising model Isabelle McNally and was styled by Masha Orlov. Of the film, Hoffman said: “The setting was mystical and cosmic with ceremonial elements incorporated to fully immerse the audience and allow one to really connect with the collection.”
Watching the short film definitely made me take a closer look at the collection. Her designs are really feminine and perfect for spring. Tiny details like ruching, cut outs and zippers add to the youthful effect. I’ve included some stills of the video below but I definitely suggest watching it; it’s haunting and just a fun thing to do!
