Whether you are heading off on a tropical holiday, living it up at a pool party or just dreaming of a day by the beach, there is one designer who is guaranteed to make you want to jump in the water, stat – New York-based ready-to-wear and swimwear designer Mara Hoffman. Last week, Hoffman turned heads at Miami’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim event with her Swim 2011 collection, a series of swimwear largely inspired by the “mystical journey through the jungle” undertaken by Hoffman’s muse.
Hoffman’s Mystical Jungle journey translates into an eye-catching collection teeming with sexy silhouettes, bold and colorful prints and striking accessories. For instance, a colorful geometric swimsuit, titled “Mystic,” is adorned with crystal shapes and the All-Seeing Eye; similarly, another swimsuit, titled “Crystal Collage,” is embellished with a colorful kaleidoscope of dark and light crystals. In addition to the prints and patterns, Hoffman introduced a series of new silhouettes, including a high-waist bottom with lattice detailing, a one-piece with cinched bow detailing, a 4-strap bikini and a twisted bandeau top, among others.
Of course, exotic swimwear isn’t complete without accessories. For Swim 2011, Hoffman offers fans a range of slip-on pieces, including a convertible cotton halter dress, chiffon cover-ups and spandex leggings. Additionally, Hoffman has partnered with Alternative Apparel on a mini-collection that includes the faded pastel poncho seen above.
