British model Agyness Deyn has added another notch to her career belt: actress. Instead of making a cameo appearance in a Hollywood film, like many models have done, Aggy tested her acting chops in a 13-minute ‘film noir’ piece directed by Peter McGough for the luxury site, Nowness.com.
In the 1930s-set short, titled Mean To Me, Aggy plays a striking femme fatale who takes revenge after she is rejected by her smart-mouthed lover. Her acting is quite sweet and she even manages to invoke a tear towards the end. New York-based designer Zac Posen also lent his expertise to the film, creating the vintage-inspired gowns that Aggy wears throughout, which are all gorgeous and perfect for the film.
In June 2009, a British newspaper reported that Aggy had quit modeling, in order to pursue her acting career. Who knows if this is her way of moving into the industry, but it is a nice, slow start, a good way to test out her skills while still sticking to what she knows.
So, what do you think of Aggy’s glamorous, 30s-inspired do and Zac Posen’s designs? If you’re a lover of vintage, you’ll probably find some great inspiration in this film. Check out the full video at Nowness.com or watch it on YouTube.
