1970’smilan-fashion-week-top-five-trends-1970sTaking a step back in time with retro seventies style, fringing was seen on bags and footwear at Etro, and a luxe take on this boho embellishment with candy pink hues was displayed at Marco Vincenzo. Chocolate hues in the shape of mini dresses and halterĀ necks were evident at Costume National. Heeled clogs and loose layers seemed to be the way forward at Fendi.

Denimmilan-fashion-week-top-five-trends-denimCasual and hardwearing denim continues to be a forever timeless classic, with Aztec patterned denim jackets at Etro. Gucci opted for smart tailoring with military-themed denim jackets and loose denim pants. Fendi moved away from skinny fit pants with a new jodhpur style. Combining denim and sheer textures, Alberta Ferretti’s take on the sheer maxi skirt with denim applique flowers, was both innovative and super cute.

Super Flatsmilan-fashion-week-top-five-trends-super-flatsFlat shoes continue to reign, with pointed ankle strap flats on show at Emporio Armani, meaning that your evening look can be both glam and comfortable. Chic black flats paired with embellished lace knee-high socks were big news at Dolce and Gabbana. Marni added a little bit of height with their platform Birkenstock style shoes. Sliders were made glam with studded crystal embellishments at Fausto Puglisi.

Floaty Layersmilan-fashion-week-top-five-trends-floaty-layersFloaty layers add a cool and feminine touch, as Max Mara combined layers of billowing fabric and loose separates, with animal print. Sheer embellished dresses worn over cropped harem pants proved to be Giorgio Armani’s take on this trend. Missoni clashed colours on their bold printed maxi dresses and layered pieces and an array of goddess-like maxi dresses paraded down the Roberto Cavalli runway.

Coatsmilan-fashion-week-top-five-trends-coatsLightweight coats provide the perfect Summertime cover up, with Prada showcasing their lightweight embossed coats with cropped sleeves. Mid-thigh-length safari-style blazers were on show at Max Mara. Trench coats in neutral hues with luxe silky finishes were seen at Bottega Veneta. Gucci combined both the coats and 1970’s trends, with shearling gilets, that gave a modern boho vibe.
