Controversial singer Miley Cyrus has been unveiled as the new face of Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2014 campaign. Miley is a friend of Jacobs and became so through his business partner Robert Duffy. She has appeared in a past campaign, as well as presented an award to the duo and often chooses to wear the designer’s creations, so her being their choice for this exciting new campaign is no real surprise. Jacobs has nothing but admiration for the young singer stating:
‘ We all just love her and her entire being, her energy, her talent, her intellgence, everything. There’s nothing I don’t like about her. She is just genuine and very natural.’
However, one of Jacob’s key collaborators, German photographer Juergen Teller, didn’t feel quite the same way as he supposedly refused to shoot the campaign.
The shoot, set on a dark beach in Los Angeles, depicts the singer looking rather sullen and distant from her two ‘friends’ there with her. All three wear heavily embellished creations in gorgeous hues of navy and plum in what looks to be a collection worth getting excited about. With Miley as his choice of collaboration at least Marc Jacobs can be safe in the knowledge that this collection will get the attention it deserves.
