Canadian model Jessica Stam is one of those rare beauties whose face can instantly be picked out from the crowd. Chalk it up to her translucent skin, her amazing bone structure or her sweet smile; whatever it is, we can’t take our eyes off her. Thus, it makes perfect sense that for this month’s edition of Model Style, we put the fashion spotlight on Stam.
Jessica was first discovered by a model scout in a coffee shop, but it wasn’t until famed fashion photographer Steven Meisel took her under his wing that her career got the jump-start it needed; he cast her in every advertisement campaign he did. Since then, she has appeared on the cover of Vogue and has fronted campaigns for Versace, Dolce & Gabbana and Prada.
Marc Jacobs was so inspired by her that he designed the Marc Jacobs Stam Bag, which quickly won It Bag status. By our reasoning, anyone who has a Marc Jacobs bag named after them has got to be stylish, so with that we present you with our model muse for February.
For our first foray (far left) into Jessica’s style, we’ve chosen an ensemble that is almost uniform for the off-duty model: skin-tight leggings or jeans and a leather bomber jacket, an ultra-comfortable combination. For a chic take on Jessica’s style, we like Topshop’s Black Biker Skinny Jeans ($125) mixed with this PU Hooded Bomber Jacket ($76.49) from Asos. Throw Lucky Brand’s Leather Stash Bag ($168) over your shoulder for the finishing touch.
When it comes to events, Jessica knows how to keep it stylish yet simple (second from left). Here she pairs a draped metallic mini dress with chunky platform sandals for a look that is part rock-chic and part glam. For a similarly stylish outfit, try this Jacquard Shift Dress ($64.59) from Asos with a pair of these Cut-Out Platforms ($32.99) from Charlotte Russe.
As you can see, Jessica rarely wears heels, usually opting for a pair of classic ballet flats. Here, she pairs a simple mini dress with a leather jacket and flats for a stylish and timeless look. To try a casual look like Jessica’s, we love this Banded Dress ($68) by Silence & Noise paired with Free People’s Noveau Riche Flats ($68) and your leather bomber jacket.
When it comes to comfortable and casual, Jessica knows how to pull it off with style. Here (second from right) she pairs tailored shorts with a bright, plaid shirt for a great festival look. For a similar style, try this Plaid Voile Shirt ($15.99) by Derek Heart with these Palti Denim Shorts ($69.30) by IRO.
Finally, if you love to add some color to your casual outfit, Jessica’s printed dress and peep-toed flat combination (far right) is the way to go. Try Anna Sui’s Tie Waist Silk Dress ($435) with BC Footwear’s Thicker Than Water II Peep Toe Flats ($49.95).
