Now that the excitement over the dress has died down, we can move onto lesser matters like Kate’s makeup, her hair, and the accessories she wore to wed her prince. Read on for all the need-to-know details!
The Makeup & Nails
Catherine reportedly applied her own makeup this morning, although she did partake in a series of private lessons with London-based makeup artist Arabella Preston in the weeks leading up to the wedding. The color palette was soft and understated, staying true to Kate’s signature look. As for her nails, Kate wore a custom-blended nail polish that manicurist Marina Sandoval created specially. The off-white hue was mixed using Bourjois polish in Rose Lounge and Essie polish in Allure, among others.
The Hair & Tiara
Kate wore her hair down, in long, soft waves, as predicted, with help from hairstylist James Pryce of the Richard Ward salon. Her hair was set under a Cartier crown loaned to Kate by the Queen. The “halo” tiara was made by Cartier in 1936 and was purchased by The Duke of York (later King George VI) for his Duchess (later Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother) three weeks before he succeeded his brother as King. The tiara was presented to Princess Elizabeth (now The Queen) by her mother on the occasion of her 18th birthday.”
According to a palace spokesperson, Catherine’s wedding band was created by Wartski, a family jewelry business, from a piece of Welsh gold that was given to Prince William by Queen Elizabeth shortly after his engagement. The wedding band will accompany the sapphire engagement ring that Prince William gave Catherine in October, which famously belonged to his mother Diana.
