Music Festival Fashion, Pt 1

Summer is looming and for music lovers, that means one thing: festivals. Although rock & roll will always come first, in recent years, festival fashion has become almost as important as the music itself, thanks to Kate Moss, who pioneered the movement back in 2003.

Summer is looming and for music lovers, that means one thing: festivals. Although rock & roll will always come first, in recent years, festival fashion has become almost as important as the music itself, thanks to Kate Moss, who pioneered the movement back in 2003.

Whether you are heading to Coachella, Lollapalooza or Glastonbury, we have put together some handy style tips that will help ensure your chosen festival is a stylish affair. Get ready to flaunt your festival fashion, thanks to three of our favorite fashionable muses.

#1. When Kate Bosworth attended the 2009 Coachella Festival, she paraded a selection of stylish outfits over the three-day event. Our favorite outfit consisted of a crochet bandage skirt, layered under a 90s-inspired denim jacket and mixed with silver sandals. For a Kate-inspired look, try Topshop’s Plait Bodycon Mini Skirt ($50) with Pelle Moda’s Hallow T-Strap Sandal ($144.95). Throw AE’s Cropped Denim Jacket ($29.95) over your arm for when it gets cold.

#2. As the Glastonbury Festival rolls around each year, the fashion crowd looks to Kate Moss to set the pace. Back in 2003, Kate layered a floral tea dress under a fur stole, and then added a pair of battered leather boots to combat the mud. For a stylish stand-in, try French Connection’s Belted Floral Tea Dress ($111) with BB Dakota’s Potter Faux Fur Vest ($65). Add Daniblack’s Marley Boot ($142.98) to complete the look.

#3. At 2008’s Coachella Festival, Sienna Miller gave her look a modern-yet-bohemian vibe by combining a graphic-print mini dress with a pair of vintage Vivienne Westwood pirate boots. For a similar style, grab Dolce Vita’s Electra Dress ($175). Pair it with the original Vivienne Westwood Suede Pirate Boots ($510) or try a pair of Hudson’s Keira Buckle Boots ($378). Add Ray-Ban’s New Small Wayfarer Sunglasses for a pop of color and then finish it off with Melie Bianco’s Multi-Stud Hobo ($80).
