Earth Day is still a few weeks away but online retail destination Net-A-Porter is getting a jump start this year by partnering with Runway To Green to launch a slew of exclusive designer products. Over 25 designer brands—including Prada, Gucci, Balenciaga, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Alexander McQueen, Diane von Furstenberg, Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de la Renta, Jason Wu, Alexander Wand, Tory Burch, Derek Lam, Marni, Michael Kors, Rachel Roy, Rag & Bone, Thakoon, and Tommy Hilfiger—have dedicated items or created items for their fall 2011 collections that will benefit the Runway To Green cause. Net-A-Porter is selling these pieces exclusively, months before they are available at retail stores. A minimum of 10% of the net proceeds from the sale of each design will be donated by Net-A-Porter to Runway To Green, which, in turn, funds affiliated organizations such as Alliance for Climate Protection, the Natural Resources Defense Council, and the United Nations Environment Programme’s Billion Tree Campaign.
To celebrate the partnership, a slew of fashion industry insiders and celebrities—including Anna Wintour, Jason Wu, Michael Kors, Diane Kruger, Rachel Roy, Natalie Massenet, Karolina Kurkova, and Angela Lindvall—turned out last night at Christie’s Bid to Save the Earth event in New York City. Hosted by François-Henri Pinault, Salma Hayek, David and Susan Rockefeller, Graydon and Anna Carter, and Vogue, the event included a live fashion show co-styled by Vogue’s fashion director Tonne Goodman and contributing editor Tabitha Simmons.
You can check out pictures from the collections and last night’s event inside, or head to Net-A-Porter.com now to purchase these exclusive designer pieces and do your part to help the Runway To Green cause.
