Now that New York Fashion Week has passed the halfway mark, it is time to take a look back at what went down during the first four days and discover which shows we loved, who popped up on the catwalk, and more. Read on!
Our hearts were all aflutter when we spotted the chic and sophisticated designs at the Jason Wu show. Inspired by the history of China, each dress seemed destined for a red carpet moment, while every other look seemed fated for the closet of every fashion insider in New York.
Rag & Bone
It is no secret that David Neville and Marcus Wainwright, the designers behind rag & bone, know how to layer. For fall 2012, you can expect to see every girl in New York City trying their hand at layering thanks to the belted blanket coats and chic fur-trimmed jackets shown in this collection.
Gisele Bundchen made an appearance on the catwalk at Alexander Wang, almost upstaging the face masks and shiny outerwear that Wang showed for fall.
Super-stylist and designer Rachel Zoe held her first runway show for Rachel Zoe Collection, after two seasons of presentations. Taking inspiration from fashion icons such as Marianne Faithfull and Mick Jagger, Rachel showed a modern-boho collection with just a touch of rock and roll—in other words, she stayed true, once again, to her signature style, all the while expanding on the looks she knows best.
If you are looking for a fresh batch of little black dresses, you need look no further. This collection was teeming with LBDs, each one sexier and more sophisticated than the next. Also to be found: gypsy-inspired dresses, utilitarian pea coats, and luxe velvet blazers. A dream.
