Nicole Richie hinted at a contemporary women’s clothing line last week but the rumors are true. The label, Winter Kate, will debut in Spring 2010 and is set to expand her designing career, which includes her accessories line, House of Harlow 1960, and her maternity collection for A Pear in the Pod. The Winter Kate line will feature 37 pieces and will hit stores such as Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Ron Herman, Intermix and Kitson beginning in February. The prices will range from $35 to $598. In other news, House of Harlow 1960 will include shoes as part of the Spring 2010 collection. [WWD]
American fashion designer Tom Ford has confirmed that he will return to designing women’s wear, with the line potentially launching as early as Fall 2010. Ford confirmed that he and his business partner Domenico De Sole are seeking out financing for the venture. “Financing is extremely expensive right now, so if we find financing in the right situation we’ll be able to start [a women’s collection] soon. If we don’t, we may have to wait a while,” Ford said. [WWD]

Ridley Scott is apparently in talks with Angelina Jolie to star in his new movie about the Gucci family. If the rumors are true, Jolie would be playing the role of Patrizia Reggiano, who was sentenced to 29 years prison for plotting the murder of her ex-husband, Maurizio Gucci. Gucci, the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci, was gunned down in front of his Milan apartment in 1995. The script is still in development with hopes that filming would begin in 2010. [Variety]
