A limited selection of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen’s new Olsenboye collection first hit JC Penney stores in November, with a full release scheduled for February. Earlier this week, Nylon Magazine had a sneak preview of the Olsenboye Spring 2010 lookbook.
The new collection is a shift in aesthetic and style for the Olsen twins. Their other lines, Elizabeth & James and The Row, are more in line with their own style, while the Olsenboye collection is a definite return to their roots; a young, fresh collection that they probably would have worn when they were teenagers.
Olsenboye also represents a shift in price points, with most pieces retailing for under $50. This is definitely good news for younger Olsen fans who would love to own something designed by the twins, but can’t afford their other, pricier labels. Problem solved!
The twins plan to base every Olsenboye collection around a new city. For this season, they were inspired by New York; an obvious choice, given it is their home town. The collection has blazers, cropped denim jackets, colorful miniskirts and more, which should suit their demographic just fine.
