If you are looking for a quirky accessory to pair with your ethnic-inspired mochila bag, look no further than Osborn Design’s vibrant line of footwear. Created by artists Aaron Osborn and Carla Venticinque-Osborn, the line is an on-trend collection of oxford shoes, slip-on sneakers and desert booties with a heavy dose of pizzazz and color.
Each pair is unique; while some are made from recycled clothing and blankets, others are finished with African kente cloth or handwoven Guatemalan fabrics, a tribute to their origin—the couple was inspired to create the collection after Aaron spent six years doing humanitarian work in Guatemala. In fact, each shoe is handmade in Guatemala by a cobbler and two assistants.
In the future, the couple plans to turn the footwear line into a fully-recycled collection—think tire bottoms and handmade shoelaces. Until then, fans can look forward to denim iterations and quilted versions, or, for the creative-minded, custom-made styles designed from your own fabrics.
Osborn Design’s shoes can be purchased from OsbornDesign.com or, in New York City, Oak and Alter. Prices start at $65.
