Paris Fashion Week, Fall 2012: Days 1-9

Paris Fashion Week officially wrapped up yesterday, bringing to an end a month of major collections, designer shake-ups, front-row sightings, and plenty more. On that note, click inside to take a look at what went down during the Paris shows. Read on!

Louis Vuitton
If Marc Jacobs continues to outdo every show with the next one, we may have a problem. Last season, models hopped off a moving carousel; this season, a real-deal steam train chugged down the runway. As it pulled into the station, the models disembarked, revealing a collection of separates, some embellished with beads, some embellished with patches of leather. And like the Marc Jacobs show back in New York, there were plenty of big hats.

Miu Miu
Last week, we gushed over Prada’s fall collection; today, we enthuse over Miu Miu, Miuccia Prada’s little sister label. There were colorful pant suits, printed skirt-and-jacket sets, embellished smock coats, and more, and each look felt so ripe-and-ready for fall that we were almost ready to bypass the spring/summer season. Almost.

Isabel Marant
In the past few years, Isabel Marant has grown and grown, becoming a cult favorite label for fashion insiders, celebrities, and everyone in between. Suffice to say, Marant is doing something so right that it would be quite wrong to change it up now. With that said, although the silhouettes were strikingly familiar from seasons past, this season Marant infused her collection with a cowgirl twist, adding hints of Americana and prairie-girl. If one thing is certain, this is a collection we will see plenty of come fall.

Valentino
If you were as smitten with Valentino’s spring collection as we were, it seems certain that you will find just as much to love in the fall collection. Several of the oh-so chic silhouettes popped back up, although the collection definitely had a darker twist than spring. Our favorite looks, however, were the more colorful ones, such as a full-length dress made from fabric that resembled an ethnic rug. Speaking of carpets, may we be so bold as to say that this is one collection that needs a red carpet moment.
