These days, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, the powerhouse sisters behind fashion label Rodarte, are so busy racking up part-time projects that they can’t even make it to a White House event in their honor. Nevertheless, we’ll forgive them, as they are about to release yet another artistic project that we know we’ll love.
Rodarte: Mondo Rodarte is a 144-page coffee-table tome in which contemporary artists such as Catherine Opie, Alex Soth and Gregory Krum, to name a few, interpret Rodarte designs through photography. Given that Rodarte’s past inspiration includes such diverse subjects as California Condors, Frankenstein, Japanese horror films and sleepwalking, we’re sure these photographic interpretations will be just as diverse and, shall we say, obscure.
Rodarte: Mondo Rodarte will be released in the UK on September 1 and in the USA on November 30. You can pre-order a copy now through Amazon.com for $37.77, or, if you’re in the UK, through Female First for £31.50. Interestingly, if you just can’t wait, we did spot a few hardcover copies on Ebay for £38.99!
