Seasonal Style: Kirsten Dunst

We are firm believers that personal style is as much about having a consistent manner as it is about evolution, which is just one of the reasons we love our Seasonal Style story—it explores how some of our favorite stars evolve their personal style via a years’ worth of outfits. Today, we are particularly excited to cover a year in the style of Kirsten Dunst—she of the “always stylish, yet always simple” school of thought. On that note, click through to today’s story to discover how Kirsten’s style stays the same throughout the year and how it evolves!

In late 2010, Kirsten was spotted shopping out and about in Los Angeles wearing a beige trench coat, black skinny jeans, and brown suede booties. Kirsten is known for mixing wardrobe basics with timeless essentials and this outfit is no different—her trench coat gives an otherwise casual look a chic twist, plus it is a piece she can wear with any wear look, glam or otherwise. To try Kirsten’s winter look for yourself, pick up a trench like Mango’s A-Line Cotton Trench ($140) or Burberry’s Packaway Trench ($695). Then, pair your trench with skinny jeans and simple booties; we like Matt Bernson’s Mesa Lace Up Booties ($105) and Steve Madden’s Pannache Booties ($100).

In May, Kirsten was spotted out and about in New York City, enjoying the sunny spring weather. Her outfit for the day—a pretty off-white blouse, cropped jeans, and wedge sandals—stayed true to her philosophy of putting together simple outfits with a personal twist. In this case, she has swapped her jeans for a 1970s-inspired silhouette and traded her boots for sandals, but the basic vibe stays the same. To make Kirsten’s spring look your own, pair pieces like Reiss’s Liveen Crystal Emb Top ($105) or Zara’s Blouse ($60) with a pair of wide-leg jeans. Accessorize with a pair of sandals such as ASOS’s Harp Leather Wedges ($64).

In July, Kirsten was spotted out in New York City, this time wearing a button-up blouse, a denim shift skirt, and a pair of gold sandals. Once again, Kirsten has remained faithful to her signature style, making just a few seasonal tweaks—swapping her jeans for a skirt, which allows her to soak up the summer sun, and picking out a pair of chic metallic sandals that easily transition from day to night. To try Kirsten’s summer look for yourself, look for pieces like Blank Denim’s Pencil Skirt ($78) and Burberry’s Stretch Denim Mini Skirt ($175), both of which would look great with ASOS’s Blouse ($54) and Loeffler Randall’s Filippa Mignon Flat Sandals ($295).

In November, Kirsten was spotted out in Santa Monica wearing a mustard yellow blouse, wide-leg jeans, and chunky wedge heels. As you can see, Kirsten’s fall style is quite similar to her spring style, showing us that Kirsten has a great sense of what suits her and what she likes. We particularly like the way Kirsten has opted for rich fall colors like mustard to bring her outfit to life. To make Kirsten’s fall look your own, pair richly-colored pieces like A.L.C.’s Arissa Blouse ($345) and Zara’s Blouse ($60) with wide-leg jeans like J Brand’s Loni High-Rise Jeans ($86). Then, add a pair of Isabel Marant’s Handy Wedge Sandals ($675) and you’re all set.
