On Saturday, French fashion designer Sonia Rykie’s much-anticipated lingerie collection for H&M will launch, hitting 1,500 H&M stores, as well as Sonia Rykiel boutiques, around the world.
To add to the mounting excitement, H&M put together a launch party/runway show that took place in Paris on Tuesday night. Inspired by Alice in Wonderland, the extravaganza included huge rabbits, balloons, an eleven-story replica of the Eiffel Tower and plenty of carnival-esque fun. Special guests, including Jean Paul Gaultier and Eva Herzigova, gathered at the Grand Palais to witness the fun, which even included an indoor firework show.
Models included UK favorite Lily Cole and Canadian beauty Alana Zimmer, while actress Kate Bosworth also walked the red carpet. Meanwhile, mannequins gave fans their first glimpse at Sonia’s coming knitwear line for H&M, which won’t debut until February 20. Sonia’s daughter, Nathalie, said the show was “Christmas before Christmas; crazy before beyond crazy – it’s happy, it’s exciting, it’s Paris, it’s feminine.”
The line includes a selection of thongs, bras and “Hollywood homewear” items, which include chiffon kimonos, black velour pajamas and a one-sleeve dress that can be worn as evening wear. Not to mention headbands and hair accessories.
If you’re thinking of heading to an H&M this Saturday, a spokesperson for Hennes told Grazia UK that, unlike the Jimmy Choo for H&M launch, there won’t be any limits on the number of products you can buy. Grazia UK also got the scoop on sizing – nightwear will be available in sizes XS to L, bras in 34A to 38D and pants from a size 6 to 14. Finally, price points. Thongs will start at $12, bras will start at $30 and Hollywood homewear items start at $114.
