For the last month or so, the crème de la crème of street style stars have been parading their most fashionable ensembles on the streets of New York, London, Milan and Paris, thanks to the extravaganza that is fashion week. Naturally, we just couldn’t pass up the opportunity to explore all the major style moments from these four cities, which is why we’d like to welcome you to this special edition of Street Chic. So, sit back and make sure you take notes as we’re just positive you’ll find plenty of inspiration in Street Chic: Fall 2011 Fashion Week.
It is no surprise to see that the streets of New York were teeming with inspiration – whether you opt for a cool downtown vibe (left) or a colorfully-chic aesthetic (right). If you are leaning towards downtown-cool, start your look with a cozy funnel coat – we like Marc New York’s Ruffle Back Detail Peacoat ($99.99). Add a pair of skinny black pants, such as Marc By Marc Jacobs’ Stretch Knit Zip Ankle Jeggings ($137), and then accessorize with Minnetonka’s Woodstock Boots ($85) and American Vintage’s Chunky Infinity Scarf ($45). If you prefer a chic European-inspired vibe, we suggest picking up Rag & Bone’s Kennington Wool-Blend Coat ($680) and pairing it with BDG’s Cigarette High-Rise Jeans ($58). Complete your look with B Makowsky’s Lindsey Suede Tote ($232.90), Carvela’s Sisley Platform Ankle Boots ($154.20) and a vintage fur muff from Ebay.com.
After New York, the fashion pack moved on to London, where the girls on the streets were equally stylish and seemed to celebrate fashion in a fun way – by playing with color (left) and texture (right). If you’re inclined to put together a great color story this spring, we suggest layering Rachel Roy’s Blouson Cardigan ($53.40) or Kimchi Blue’s Cutaway Cardigan Jacket ($58) over Les Chiffoniers’ Zip Pocket Wax Leather Leggings ($436). Finish your look with Carin Wester’s Marbella Ankle Boot ($159.99), Love Quotes’s Wrap Scarf ($88) and Topshop’s Taupe Leather Metal Trim Satchel ($170). If you favor textured items, such as a pleated skirt, start by grabbing Free People’s Wrapped In Pleats Maxi Skirt ($168) and layer it underneath Rezrekshn’s Leather Motorcycle Jacket ($69.99). Finish your look with Steve Madden’s Freeway Boots ($104.97) and Topshop’s Heart Cutout Floppy Hat ($50).
Across Europe, in Milan, street style stars opted for rock & roll-inspired looks (left) and smart and sophisticated ensembles (right) – in fact, you could say Milan had a little bit of everything all rolled into one. If you are leaning towards a rocker chic look, layer Kinder Aggugini for Impulse’s Cropped Motorcycle Leather Jacket ($299) or Topshop’s Black Cropped PU Jacket ($110) over a white tee. Then, add your favorite black skinny jeans and finish with Aldo’s Gallian Boots ($111.99). Of course, if you would rather a classically chic vibe, there are plenty of options. Start with J Crew’s Isabel Sweatshirt ($228) and layer it under ASOS’s Double Fronted Coat ($179.30). Next, add a pair of cropped pants in a pretty pastel shade – we like Club Monaco’s Maggie Pants ($139). To finish, pick up a pair of Frye’s Kara Cork Platform Sandals ($248).
Last, but by no means least, Paris, where fashion week comes to an end and street style stars compose their final ensembles. Key looks? Neutrals with a pop of bold color (left) and modern-punk ensembles (right) – in other words, everything we have come to know and love about Paris. If you favor a bold color combo, layer Topshop’s Crepe Crop Blazer ($145) over Club Monaco’s Athea Sweater Dress ($159). Then, simply add a pair of opaque black tights and Luxury Rebel By Jean-Michel Cazabat’s Rihanna Leather Ankle Boots ($102). On the other hand, if you’re leaning towards a modern version of 1970s punk, mix Victoria’s Secret’s Soft Washed Leather Motorcycle Jacket ($198) with Rag & Bone/JEAN’s Classic Plaid Shirt ($185). Add a pair of Levi’s Jeans’ Skinny Cropped Patchwork Jeans ($46.99) and then finish with Isabel Marant’s Poppy Bow-Embellished Suede Pumps ($620).
