Street Chic: Fashion Week

While there is nothing we love more about fashion week than the looks that come down the runway, there is one thing that comes in a close second: the street style that is on display outside the shows. On that note, today’s special edition Street Chic story is an ode to four of the fabulous outfits seen in New York, London, Milan, and Paris during the fall 2012 shows. So, click through for the scoop on the outfits we loved and how you can make each of these looks your own. Read on!

New York
During New York Fashion Week, model and street style blogger Hanneli Mustaparta was spotted on the streets wearing a cropped blue suede jacket, blue jeans, and black ankle boots. There are several reasons to love this outfit, not least of which is the bright pop of color that Hanneli so boldly sports. Additionally, we love the statement earrings that Hanneli is wearing. This is a fun way to add a glamorous touch to a daytime ensemble. On that note, to make Hanneli’s look your own, pick up a jacket like Ash’s Perforated Suede Jacket ($698) or Lot78’s Zoe Biker Jacket ($1,400) and pair it with 7 For All Mankind’s Gwenevere Jeans ($189). Then, simply add Rosegold’s Nancy Booties ($113), before finishing with Kendra Scott’s Oralie Earrings ($68).

Across the pond at London Fashion Week, model Poppy Delevingne was spotted outside the shows wearing a blue scalloped jacket, a white button-down shirt, and cropped polka-dot pants, which she accessorized with platform heels and dark sunglasses. This look is perfect for fashion week. It is fashion-forward, but it isn’t weighed down with fussy details, which is essential when you are running from show to show. Moreover, it easily transitions from a day at the shows to an after-party or two. To try Poppy’s look for yourself, pick up Bop Basics’s Draped Jacket ($248) and Sparkle & Fade’s Cutout Chiffon Button-Down Shirt ($40) and pair them with Vanessa Bruno Athé’s Polka Dot Print Trousers ($325). A pair of Pelle Moda’s Yvanka Platform Sandals ($170) will complete your look.

At Milan Fashion Week, things took a turn for the colorful thanks to the lovely lady above. Her outfit—a green printed dress, a matching fur-trimmed coat, yellow tights, and wedge loafers—is not for the faint of heart, but it does have a fun and fresh feel to it. In particular, we love the way she has balanced sophisticated pieces like her dress and coat with fun pieces like bright tights. After all, fashion is all about breaking the rules. On that note, to make her look your own, pick up a dress like Zara’s Lace Tulip Dress ($100) and pair it with ASOS’s Faux Fur-Collar Coat ($64). Then, simply add American Apparel’s Bamboo Jersey Tights ($22), before completing the look with Michael Antonio’s Adeline Wedges ($20).

At the final stop—Paris Fashion Week—French Vogue stylist Geraldine Saglio was spotted wearing a leather biker jacket, a blue sweater, white jeans, and black suede ankle boots. Her outfit has that signature Parisian-chic feel—minimalist, uncomplicated, and decidedly cool. It has an air of nonchalance about it, but it also looks well-thought-out. But the thing we like most about this outfit is that it will last through the day and into the night, which is really the essence of every great fashion week outfit. To try Geraldine’s look for yourself, pick up Zara’s Leather Jacket ($189) and Nightcap Clothing’s Mesh Lace Sweatshirt ($176) and pair them with J Brand’s Zoe Midrise Zip Skinny Jeans ($224). A pair of Maje’s Nohan Boots ($515) will finish the look.
