Street Chic: Fall Style

By now, you are probably working your way through your fall wardrobe, which means some fresh outfit inspiration will hardly go astray. Happily, today’s Street Chic story has all that and more! Yes, today’s story is jam-packed with ideas—whether you are looking for tips on how to wear your favorite dress in these chilly fall months, how to layer, or how to work a not-so-basic black outfit. Plus, these ideas come courtesy of real girls, just like you (and us)! So what are you waiting for? Read on for all the details and make sure you take notes as there is plenty of inspiration to be found in today’s story!

1. Dresses may be synonymous with summer but you can easily transition the look into the fall months, especially if you take notes from the first lovely lady above. By picking a dress with a longer silhouette, our muse has instantly given her ensemble a cozy fall-ready feel, which is emphasized with the addition of ankle boots and socks. The best part about this look, however, is how versatile it is. As the weather changes, you can simply swap the socks for a pair of tights, and then add a chunky knit cardigan. To make this look your own, start by picking up a midi dress like Jill Stuart’s Karlie Dress ($648) or ASOS’s Midi Dress ($134.78). Cinch it at the waist with ModCloth’s On Trendsetting Belt ($29.99), and then complete the look with DKNY’s Sylvana Boots ($156.75) and J Crew’s Wide-Rib Tights ($26.50).

2. Layering no doubt plays a huge part in your fall style, which is why we suggest you look to the second lovely lady above for some fresh layering inspiration. The key to this look is balance. By sticking to simple blue jeans on her lower half, our muse has allowed herself plenty of freedom to play on top. Her leather vest and chunky knit cardigan provide the outfit with interesting texture, while a bright scarf seals the deal and ensures that this ensemble stands out. To try this look for yourself, pair pieces like By Malene Birger’s Anninas Cardigan ($395) and Free People’s Vegan Pullover ($98) with your favorite jeans. Then, add a scarf like Theodora & Callum’s Blanket Scarf ($175) or Staring At Stars’ Blanket Scarf ($34), before completing the look with a pair of on-trend loafers like Topshop’s Kasper Loafers ($110).

3. For many of us, black is a ‘safe’ color that we return to time and time again, but it is anything but basic. For proof, just look at the third lovely lady above. Her leather harem-style trousers give the ensemble a decidedly tough twist, which she balances perfectly by adding a sophisticated turtleneck sweater and a pair of smart pumps. The aviator sunglasses emphasize her rocker-chic vibe. By picking pieces that balance each other out in more ways than one—including silhouette, texture, and style—our muse has created a perfect look for the girl-on-the-go. To make this look your own, pick up a pair of Alexander Wang’s Leather Track Pants ($1,250) and team them with a sweater like Theory’s Encase Elisabeth Short-Sleeve Turtleneck ($85) or Splendid’s 1×1 Turtleneck ($50). Then, simply add Guess’s Mipolia Pumps ($99) and you are all set.

I love love love the girls look with Slyvana boots! I think her style is really cool, I like the way she injects some colour into her autumn wardrobe with the florals too. I genereally stick to my Ugg boots for a daytime look in the winter months but I might give this look a go 4 girly drinks with the girls.
