Street Chic: March 2010

If our picks for March’s edition of Street Chic have one thing in common, it’s that they all have perfected the art of layering. From boyfriend cardigans to chunky knit sweaters, these girls are super chic and ready for anything.

If our picks for March’s edition of Street Chic have one thing in common, it’s that they all have perfected the art of layering. From boyfriend cardigans to chunky knit sweaters, these girls are super chic and ready for anything.

As always, we tried to pick an assortment of different styles. From the vintage-chic aesthetic of Girl #1 to the bohemian vibe of Girl #3, there is definitely something for everyone to pick from. So, if you’re experiencing the stormy weather of the east coast or those final summer days, pick a girl (or two) and get inspired by this month’s Street Chic.

TOP TO BOTTOM, LEFT TO RIGHT

#1. Stealing from your boyfriend’s closet has never been so chic! This girl styles a vintage-inspired boyfriend cardigan effortlessly by pairing it with super skinny, leather pants and a pair of lace-up ankle boots. Make this look your own by mixing this Rainforest Chunky Striped Cardigan ($124) by Leifsdottir with Charlotte Russe’s Faux Leather Skinny Pants ($22.99). Polish off the look by adding these Leather Strapped Lace-Up Ankle Boots ($78.63) by Asos Ace.

#2. A great floral mini dress is an essential part of every summer closet and this girl shows us how to add a little flair. Grab this look by wearing Topshop’s Rosebud Skater Dress ($65) with a pair of Madden Girl’s Feliciaa Platform Mary Janes ($44.95). Throw on Topshop’s Frill Top Ankle Socks ($6) and then, for the final touch, add this Quilted Lock Across Body Bag ($25.64) from Asos.

#3. We always love a girl who works the bohemian-luxe vibe to full effect and this girl immediately caught our eye. The overall look is Marianne Faithfull meets the 21st century. Steal her style by grabbing this Long Feather Faux Fur Coat ($102.56) from Asos and layering it over blue jeans. Add a pair of Modern Vintage’s Triple Buckle Foldover Boots ($229.95) and then finish it off with Free People’s Janis Brimmed Hat ($68).

#4. This one is for all the girls who love to layer. This girl has thrown a chunky knit sweater over a black mini dress and added a pair of lace-up wedges for a look that is grunge-inspired but totally modern. You can recreate this look by pairing this Chunky Boatneck Sweater ($73) by DKNY Jeans with American Apparel’s Nylon Tricot Figure Skater Dress ($48). Finish off your outfit by adding Aldo’s Gron Wedge ($70).

#5. We always love a girl who can make an outfit look sophisticated yet youthful at the same time, as this girl has done with her leather-and-lace combo. Ready to try this look out? Start with Charlotte Russe’s Leather Mini Skirt ($22.99) and then balance the look with Joie’s Thandie Top ($188). The look isn’t complete without Tahari’s Marley Oxford ($59.99) and this Double Breasted Trench Coat ($69) from Arden B.

#6. For our final Street Chic pick, we love how this girl has mixed feminine florals with tough ankle boots for a cool-yet-casual look. Try a similar style by layering Forever21’s Silk Blend Floral Top ($16.90) with BDG’s Back-Zip Mini Skirt ($38). Finish it off with these Beatrice Lace Up Ankle Booties ($200) by Klub Nico.
