Style Spy: Beach Chic

If you are anything like us, you only have one thing on your mind when summer arrives: the beach. Of course, that in turn brings to mind a simple question: what to wear on the beach? Luckily, today’s Style Spy story has not one but four outfit ideas for what to wear on sunny beach days thanks to top tastemakers like Gwen Stefani and Rihanna. Better yet, there are outfits for girls of every shape and size, so don’t delay! Click through to discover all the need-to-know details on looking chic at the beach, not to mention our favorite product recommendations. Read on!

Who are we looking to for inspiration?
All four of today’s muses are known for their personal style—and that definitely extends to what they wear to the beach. For instance, Gwen Stefani stayed true to her cool Californian vibe while playing on the beach in Malibu with her two sons last year. Earlier this year, Chloe Sevigny opted for an equally cool look while vacationing in Miami. In April, Rachel Bilson was spotted heading to the beach in a modern-boho ensemble in Barbados. As for Rihanna, she opted for a typically sexy look while vacationing in Hawaii earlier this year.

How do they style their beachwear?
We touched on this above, but we really love the way each of our muses has stayed true to their personal style when compiling beach-ready outfits. Gwen often wears maxi skirts with tight tank tops on her off-duty days so her beach outfit is just a variation on that combination. Her accessories are also in keeping with her everyday style—not to mention that bright red lipstick. By picking out pieces that she knows she looks good in, Gwen has ensured she will feel comfortable and cool while on the beach. Chloe has also tweaked her everyday style by choosing a cool button-down tunic to layer over her bikini. We can definitely see Chloe wearing this tunic while out and about in New York City, but it doubles perfectly as a beach cover-up and will easily make the transition to cocktail hour back at the hotel. Rachel’s cover-up has a bohemian vibe to it, which is definitely in line with the modern-boho pieces she is often seen wearing back home in Los Angeles. We like the way that this cover-up can also transition from the beach to a night out simply by adding a waist belt and sandals. Lastly, we turn to Rihanna. Her outfit is similarly versatile—we can see her dancing the night away in it—but we prefer it for the beach. It has a subtly sexy vibe, but Rihanna has toned that down by adding flip-flops and delicate accessories. In summary, all four looks exemplify the personal style of their wearers and can be worn all day and night. When you can make use of an outfit more than once on a vacation, it is priceless!

How can I make these looks my own?
Now for the fun part: shopping! We have picked out a few pieces that we think will help you make each of these outfits your own, but remember to always stay true to your personal style when shopping.
