Style Spy: Denim

While we all have different styles, there is one thing that every fashion fan can agree on: a great pair of jeans is a must-have! That being said, we all approach denim in different ways—some of us prefer 70s-inspired flares, some of us prefer a casual cropped jean, and some of us prefer a zippered rocker-chic look. Happily, no matter what your taste in denim is, today’s Style Spy story is sure to have ideas and inspiration to match. On that note, read on for all the need-to-know details on denim courtesy of five super-stylish stars!

Cropped Jeans
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley always looks amazing—whether she is on the red carpet or strolling around Los Angeles. We love the way she has paired her cropped loose-fit jeans with a slouchy tee, silver sandals, and just-messy-enough hair. The result is a casually chic look that is as effortless as it looks. If you want to create an equally relaxed look, make sure you check out these options: Gap’s 1969 Cropped Kick Flare Jeans ($18.99), Dolce & Gabbana’s Low-Rise Cropped Skinny Jeans ($435), and 7 For All Mankind’s Josefina Boyfriend Jeans ($112.99).

Flared Jeans
If there is one denim style that you simply must buy for your closet, it is flared jeans—they are ultra-flattering, easy to wear, and on-trend. On that note, make sure you look to Diane Kruger for style tips. By pairing her flared jeans with modern pieces, Diane has evoked the bohemian charm of the 1970s but upheld her contemporary aesthetic. Inspired? Be sure to check out these key picks: James Jeans’ Play Girl Jeans ($172), MiH Jeans’ Marrakesh Mid-Rise Flared Jeans ($210), and Free People’s 5-Pocket Flare Jeans ($78).

Zipped Jeans
There is something very rock and roll about zippered jeans, especially when they come in a chic black wash. For proof, just look at Claudia Schiffer, who paired hers with a plaid button-down shirt and patent ankle booties. Although this look certainly has an edgy vibe, it doesn’t feel forced, making it the perfect ensemble for a shopping trip or a fashion industry party. On that note, make sure you check out these options: Free People’s Zippered Ankle Crop Jeans ($98), J Brand’s Major High-Rise Twill Jeans ($187), and Burberry Brit’s Burrington Ankle-Zip Jeans ($225).

Colored Jeans
It is no secret that colored jeans have been having a major moment this summer. If you want to try them for yourself, be sure to check out Gwen Stefani for inspiration. As always, Gwen gave her red jeans a personal twist by pairing them with a ripped tank top and a pair of peep-toe booties. The result is a playful ensemble that allows Gwen’s jeans to take center stage! You can try this look for yourself with these pieces: J Brand’s 811 Skinny Jeans ($176), Vince’s Skinny Jeans ($225), and Bebe’s Skinny Jeans ($89).

Skinny Jeans
For those of you who want something sleek and sophisticated, your answer lies in the skinny jean, as evidenced by Charlize Theron. Take note of the way Charlize has styled her jeans. By pairing her denim with a sequined top and a smart blazer, Charlize has quickly created an ultra-chic look that easily transitions from day to night. You can make a similar style statement by checking out these options: Rag & Bone’s Skinny Jeans ($198), J Brand’s 912 Low-Rise Skinny Jeans ($180), and Blank NYC’s Spray On Skinny Jeans ($70).

I LOVE them all!  I’ve been in a bit of a flair and skinnies routine, but the picture of Gwen Stefani in red denim is great… just the inspiration I need to branch out into the world of color!
