With the transition from summer to fall basically upon us, it is no secret that we have been getting prepared here at Mama’s A Rolling Stone. Who’s wearing a knit sweater?
Several top tastemakers are showing us how to work a knit sweater during the transitional weeks, including the always-stylish Diane Kruger, a chic Dianna Agron, songstress Lana Del Rey, and actress Rachel Bilson.
How are they styling them?
While Diane and Dianna both opted for chunkier knits, Lana and Rachel opted for lightweight iterations. The styling, however, was very similar for all four ladies. Simply put, all four of our muses used their knit sweaters as part of a casually-chic outfit. Diane paired hers with just shorts and sandals, while Dianna opted for skinny jeans and flats. Lana layered her knit sweater over a tennis dress, while Rachel tried a shorts-and-boots look. As is evident, the knit sweater is more of a casual piece that is used for practical reasons as much as it is for style. We like the idea of simply blending the sweater into your entire look, rather than making it the focus of your outfit. In other words, your entire outfit should show off your fashion personality and the sweater should just be one part of that.
How can I make this look my own?
Some of the best knit sweaters on the market right now include Acne’s Lina Pineapple Chunky Open-Knit Sweater ($270), Topshop’s Knitted Chunky Raglan Top ($68), and Motel’s Chunky Stripe Knit Sweater ($77), if you want a chunkier knit like Diane and Dianna. If you want something lightweight like the sweaters that Lana and Rachel wore, check out Daftbird’s V Neck Sweater ($115), American Apparel’s Sheer Rib Raglan Pullover ($38), and LNA’s Ashford Sheet Sweater ($125).
