Who is putting together perfect spring looks?
We all have different ideas about what to wear in spring, which is why we are looking to four very different women for inspiration. Nicole Richie recently put together a cool-yet-casual look for a day out and about in Los Angeles: a striped sweater and denim cut-off shorts. Miley Cyrus gave a black mini dress a boy-meets-girl twist for a day out in West Hollywood. Jessica Alba paired a floral Karen Zambos dress with a denim vest for lunch in Camarillo. Last, but certainly not least, Emma Stone paired a camel trench with a black blouse and white skirt for a stroll around New York City.
How are they styling their looks?
As you can see, all four of today’s muses have opted for outfits that are decidedly fuss-free, although they have not sacrificed their personal style for comfort. For instance, Nicole stayed true to the casual vibe of her outfit by adding three accessories that were practical but also stylish: a red tote bag, flat slipper-style shoes, and her signature oversized sunglasses. Miley paired her mini dress with a pair of Converse sneakers, which not only balanced out the subtly sexy vibe of her dress but gave the entire ensemble a low-key feel. Jessica paired her dress and vest with a printed scarf, using it more or less as a necklace, rather than as a scarf. This added another touch of color to her outfit, plus the scarf can help keep her warm when the weather turns chilly. Speaking of which, Emma wisely chose to keep a camel coat on hand for the fickle New York weather. Between the coat and her pretty bow-embellished pumps, Emma created a look that works just as well for the office as it does for a day out on the town.
How can I make these looks my own?
No matter which direction you plan to head in this spring, there are plenty of options on the market. If you like Nicole’s casually-chic ensemble, try pairing a top like Brandy & Melville’s Gina Stripe Knit ($80) with Siwy’s Camilla Cut Off Shorts ($151) and ASOS’s Lite Tassel Slipper Pumps ($27). If you want to try Miley’s boy-meets-girl look, pair a dress like Tripp NYC’s Pucker Up Caged Dress ($78) or Splendid’s Layers Slip Dress in Black ($78) with Converse’s Slim Chucks ($50). If you like Jessica’s colorful look, try teaming a dress like Pencey Standard’s Standard Long Dress ($176) with Topshop’s Moto Sleeveless Denim Jacket ($76) and Tilo’s Tonal Crinkle Scarf ($85). Finally, if you want to make Emma’s look your own, try layering Zara’s Raglan Sleeve Coat ($159) over Topshop’s Two-Tone Silk Midi Dress ($130), before finishing with a pair of Elizabeth and James’s Selby Pointy Toe Suede Pumps ($325). Happy shopping!
