Style Spy: Spring Florals

If any print has become synonymous with spring, it would have to be the floral print. As winter fades away each year, we know we can count on spring to bring out our favorite fashion-forward celebrities in a parade of prints.

If any print has become synonymous with spring, it would have to be the floral print. As winter fades away each year, we know we can count on spring to bring out our favorite fashion-forward celebrities in a parade of prints. Now that spring has finally arrived, we have decided to look to six stylish starlets for direction; specifically, how they are wearing their floral prints this spring and how can you put your own stylish twist on the look. Whether you opt for a printed romper (like Vanessa Hudgens) or a simple smattering of florals across a gauzy scarf (a la Nicky Hilton), we think you will be well-equipped with inspiration this spring.

Jessica Alba: While Jessica is certainly not a stranger to the floral print, this spring she has styled it with a decidedly 1990s twist. Spotted out on the streets of Beverley Hills, the ever-chic mama was picture-perfect in a sheer floral tank, ripped denim shorts and grunge-esque Doc Marten boots. Jessica’s draped floral tank is a great piece for your spring closet; we suggest checking out Patterson J Kincaid’s Iris Tank ($68.60) and Figueroa Tank ($98) for a stylish stand-in. Combined with distressed shorts like Free People’s Rugged & Ripped Cut-Off Shorts ($68) and a classic pair of Dr. Martens 1460 Worn Boots ($128), you’ll be ready to hit spring in style.

Kate Bosworth: While we are always enamored with Kate’s personal brand of Californian cool, we are equally captivated with her New York City style. While out and about in Manhattan recently, Kate rocked a beige floral-print skirt with a skintight tank and lace-up flats. If you love this spring-ready look, don’t miss Forever21’s Ditsy Floral Skirt ($15.80) or Pour La Victoire’s Camille Flat Lace-Up Sandals ($104.47) – both the perfect pieces to start off your ensemble. Then just add a simple body-conscious tank top, or try a bodysuit like American Apparel’s Cotton Short Sleeve T-Shirt Leotard ($28) or this Cut-Out Body ($118.36) by Whistles.

Nicky Hilton: On a sunny Los Angeles day, Nicky perfected yet another casual-yet-chic look, layering a gauzy floral scarf over a loose tank and denim shorts, and then throwing on a pair of Chloe boots. We love how this scarf gives the ensemble a touch of spirit. To recreate this laidback look, mix Topshop Boutique’s Cashmere Mix Vest ($40), J Brand’s Low Rise Raw Cuffed Shorts ($159) and IRO’s Lula Lace Up Suede Booties ($396). UO’s Wildflower Scarf ($28) or Old Navy’s Floral Print Scarf ($12.50) will finish off the look.

Vanessa Hudgens: Although Vanessa may appear surprisingly shy in this on-point floral ensemble, we love her bold wardrobe choice. The teen star was snapped while out in Los Angeles a few weeks ago, rocking a brightly-colored floral romper, gladiator sandals and boho-esque felt hat. If you love this look, follow in Vanessa’s footsteps by grabbing BB Dakota’s Hadley Romper ($80) and pairing it with J Crew’s Gladiator Sandals ($110) and American Apparel’s Floppy Wool Hat ($40). If a spring breeze comes your way, wrap up in C&C California’s Draped Cardigan ($39.90).

Maggie Gyllenhaal: While stepping out in downtown Manhattan recently, Maggie demonstrated her ability to take on the spring trends with panache, pairing a colorful floral print skirt with a pair of this season’s footwear du jour: clogs. For a similar ensemble, try Karen Millen’s Bright Floral Skirt ($167.40) with a faded grey tee and Magaschoni’s Grandfather Cardigan ($152.09). If you consider yourself spring savvy, try a pair of Jeffrey Campbell’s Charli Platform Clogs ($148).

Scarlet Johansson: Today we close our Style Spy story with the feminine flair of Scarlett, who recently donned a bright floral sundress as she headed out in Santa Monica. If you’re looking to take a page out of Scarlett’s book, try Fred Flare’s Pushin’ Up The Daisies Dress ($44.99) or Free People’s Twisted Up Dress ($98). Toughen up your outfit with a pair of Loeffler Randall’s Addison Platform Sandals ($675) or, for something a little more budget-friendly, DV By Dolce Vita’s Carly Heels ($92.30).
