To commence our “Best of the West” series featuring some of our favorite emerging designers from the West Coast, we bring you Marie Turnor Accessories from Los Angeles, California. Beth Goodman, the stylist turned designer who creates these magnificent pieces in Southern California, was born in New York and influenced by the world and her travels. Inspired to design, Goodman created her most popular handbag collection “The Picnic Group” stemming from “the ubiquitous brown paper lunch bag” meant to “carry all your essentials in your hand, under your arm or inside a larger bag.” Conceptualized by Goodman in 2009 after a chance sighting of a chic Parisian woman carrying a paper bag in the Marais, the Picnic has evolved over the years, utilizing various textures while maintaining it’s simplistic functionality. The style has become so popular that behemoth luxury brands such as Jil Sander and Celine incorporated similar shapes into their Spring 2013 collections. Should the Picnic not whet your appetite and you’re hungry for more Marie Turnor chicness, check out their other clutches the Dinner, the Lunch and the Snak. If you’ve never had a reason to sneak food in your bag, Marie Turnor has just given you four.
