Summer is finally here, along with its wonderful aromas: Salty ocean breezes, sweet beach boardwalk treats, zesty fruits and frozen fruity juices. However there are also some things that are not quite as idyllic about the season (intense humidity and sticky smog, anyone?). So we suggest bringing the heavenly scents of the season inside your serene, comfortably air-conditioned home with these beachy, fruity, airy-scented candles.
The mimosa blossom boats a sweet, fruity fragrance reminiscent of lazy, outdoor lounging summer afternoons. Diptyque’s candle captures the scent perfectly, which also brings to mind sharing rounds of the tangy summer cocktail with friends and family on a the porch (or in NYC-style, a fire escape).
Ilume’s Oceaco candle adds both a wonderful summer scent and a cool decorative jar to your home. With notes of jasmine and wild musk, combined with the lush, warm-weather fragrance of leafy greens, you’re left with a beautiful summer bouquet filling your home.
These three mini candles are great for the bathroom, hallway, or anywhere you’d like to add a hint of sea grass freshness. Plus, the box is so cute, it makes a perfect hostest gift if you’re lucky enough to be invited for a weekend getaway.
Henri Bendel’s hearty candles last a long time, and their popular beach scent is no exception. Traces of juicy melon mix with notes of white lotus, rosewater, sea salt, and coconut, making it an indoor seaside-scented must.
Volupspa’s tin is so pretty—we love the green and gold pattern as well as it’s round, 2 1/4″ casing. Laguna’s coconut-wax blend produces a fresh, airy, and oh-so-clean scent, with notes of California verbena and white freesia. For West Coasters especially, it’s right on.
All of Archipelago’s candles are hand-poured into the brand’s signature, apothacary-style glass jars, which make great shabby-chic decorations. The Verbena Basil blend is light, lemony, and suggestive of late afternoon summer cocktails. (A basil-julep, perhaps? Or a spiked basil lemonade?).
Summer boardwalks flood the mind with many warm-weather memories. Here, the scent of sticky taffy, candy apples, caramel popcorn and vanilla ice cream all combine to create a super fragrant and fun candle. It’s a 2013 limited edition, so if you want to give your place that cool, carnival scent, we suggest you snap one up now.
