Taylor Momsen is one of those lucky few who, at the age of fifteen, actually has a sense of fashion. She can pick clothes that actually do look stylish and fashionable. I was not one of those lucky few.
My “uniform” at the age of fifteen consisted mostly of vintage slips worn as dresses and fake Doc Marten boots that I bought in Bali for the princely sum of $10 (at most) and then turned out to be two different sizes. Oh, and a candy-pink wash through my hair after an attempt to look like Nicole Kidman.
At the age of fifteen, two things are true when it comes to fashion:
- You have the courage to wear almost anything. Whether this comes in the form of not knowing any better, rebelling against your parents or trying to fit in with a certain crowd, you’ll most likely wear things that will shock you in your later years.
- You may actually be secretly stylish but you’re so young and carefree that it just don’t matter.
You can safely assume that I was not one of the secretly stylish kids.

Taylor Momsen seems to be lightyears ahead when it comes to fashion and style. From taking on last year’s tend of boyfriend jeans (and cutting and cuffing them into shorts) to the neon pink bandage skirt, she is selecting fashion that is very young, like her, yet on trend at all times.
With a slightly punk sensibility to her style, another highlight for me is the fact that she doesn’t remind me of anyone I knew when I was young. She definitely seems to be from the school of “throw on some clothes and go” and I love this about her. Let’s hope that Taylor stays young forever!
