Back in February, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen announced the launch of their denim-centric line, Textile Elizabeth & James, as an addition to their contemporary line. “To give [customers] this other piece of their wardrobe, with the same brand, is an easy connect,” they said at the time.

Earlier this week, the initial three-piece collection launched exclusively at Bergdorf Goodman, Neiman Marcus and Intermix, with each piece retailing for $245.

The first three pieces were all inspired by the 1970s and each of the three styles – the Joni, the Stevie and the Jimi – was named after an icon of that era. The Joni is a high-waisted style, cropped at the ankle with a frayed hem. The Stevie is a low-slung, flared jean with a vintage wash and dark pocket impressions. The Jimi is a bell-bottom jean in a bright, summery blue.

Textile Elizabeth & James may only be three pieces for now, but come fall, the Olsens plan to release a full lifestyle collection. There will be eight denim and corduroy styles (priced between $195 and $265), as well as blouses, tees, sweaters and more (priced between $65 and $275).

In the meantime, you can purchase the Joni, Stevie and Jimi at Intermix, where you can also check out how Mary-Kate and Ashley like to style each pair for day and night.

They have such a good eye for textures and proportions. Sometimes I wish they dressed a bit more like their collections!
