The Calvin Klein Clueless Dress

Calvin Klein’s creative director Francisco Costa is recreating pop-culture history with a new version of Cher Horowitz’s iconic white Calvin Klein dress from the movie Clueless.

A scene in Clueless: “Cher, what are you wearing?” “A dress!” “Says who?” “Calvin Klein!” “Well, go put something over it!” “Duh, I was just going to.” Cue Cher Horowitz, teenage fashion queen, reemerging with an unsubtle clear trench.

If visions of Cher’s iconic white Calvin Klein dress have haunted your fashion dreams since 1995, your prayers have been answered. Ilaria Urbinati, co-owner of Los Angeles-based boutique Confederacy, approached Calvin Klein’s creative director Francisco Costa with a simple request: “I went into a spazzy explanation of how my formative-years love of Calvin was partly based on the little white Calvin mini dress Alicia Silverstone wears in Clueless. So of course I said, Francisco, you need to remake that dress.”

Francisco Costa was, apparently, sold. Whether your own love of Calvin Klein revolves around the white mini, or you just want to purchase a piece of pop-culture history, this dress might be your best bet for a summer splurge. The “Clueless” dress is now available – in white or red – at LA’s Confederacy boutique, or online at ShopConfederacy.com, for $916.

Hahahaha love that scene! As well as the “But this is an Alaïa” sequence! I can’t even imagine what kind of person I’d be now if I hadn’t seen Clueless as a child!!! All-time fave!
