Even if you are deeply immersed in the world of fashion, there is so much going on—from capsule collections to reality shows, from lifestyle brands to independent labels—that it can be hard to keep up! Happily, our monthly installment of The Hot List is here to bring you up to speed on all the major happenings in the fashion world—from what to buy, what trend to explore, what to wear, and more! On that note, here is everything you need to know for April!
The New CK One
CK One is no longer just a fragrance; it is a full lifestyle brand that includes jeans, underwear and swimwear. To celebrate, CK One has launched a massive campaign for spring 2011 that features over 30 models—including Abbey Lee Kershaw, Lara Stone, and Alice Dellal—dancing for a camera in a single room. We love the campaign but we love the collection even more. You can check it out at CKOne.com.
Summer Music Festivals
One of the best things about the arrival of the spring/summer season? The simultaneous arrival of music festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza and Glastonbury! While we love the musical talent, we are just as intrigued by the fashion—after all, festivals are a playground of style. So, make sure you snap up some tickets to your favorite festival and be sure to stay tuned to Mama’s A Rolling Stone for plenty of festival fashion fun.
Matthew Williamson For Macy’s
If your summer shopping list is looking a little bare, pay attention: British designer Matthew Williamson has teamed up with Macy’s on a capsule collection. You’ll find a slew of sun dresses, plenty of printed blouses, not to mention 1970s-inspired miniskirts and patterned accessories. The best part? The collection is so budget-friendly; prices start at just $50! The collection will be available at select Macy’s stores, as well as online at Macys.com, on April 13.
Pamela Love For Topshop
Florida-born jewelry designer Pamela Love has teamed up with Topshop on a five-part collection of jewelry that hits Topshop stores in the next few weeks. Because Love is the first American designer to collaborate with the retailer, she chose to represent her country by creating a collection that evokes “the spirit of America.” Accordingly, you can look forward to Native and South American-style pieces with Love’s signature bohemian twist. We can’t wait.
Designer Thomasine Dolan Dow, who has worked at Banana Republic, Ralph Lauren, and Armani, has just launched a new women’s wear line called Thom Dolan. The vintage-inspired line instantly calls to mind Mad Men’s Betty Draper, but that doesn’t mean you won’t find plenty of modern charm. The summer-ready line includes slouchy shirt dresses, eyelet bikinis, printed dresses, and more. You can explore the full collection at ThomDolan.com or buy it now from Steven Alan stores.
All On The Line
If you watched even one episode of MTV’s The City, you most likely fell in love with Elle’s creative director, Joe Zee. Now, you can watch a full hour of Zee every week thanks to the Sundance Channel’s new reality show, All On The Line. In the show, Joe mentors struggling designers through his fashion bootcamp. Make sure to tune in to the Sundance Channel on Tuesdays at 10pm to watch Zee in action. It’s genius.
MCM Shanghai Collection
MCM has teamed up with contemporary artist Craig Redman on the Shanghai Colletion, a series of handbags that celebrate MCM’s entry into Shanghai and China. The collection features over 15 different styles and each bag is embellished with intertwined ropes, multicolored patterns, embossed leather trim, and, naturally, the signature MCM branding. If you want to pick up something unique this spring, this one is for you. You can learn more at MCMWorldwide.com.
