The fashion world moves at a “blink and you’ll miss it” pace—there is always a new product launching, a new trend, or a new event to pay attention to. That’s why we love our regular installment of The Hot List—it quickly brings you up to speed on all the major happenings in the fashion world, from what to buy to what to wear! And on that note, here is everything you need to know for February!
Vera Wang Preppy Princess
When spring arrives, we often find ourselves looking for fresh new fragrances. This season, we have our eye on Vera Wang’s new scent, Preppy Princess. With notes of tangerine, red apple, and honeysuckle, Preppy Princess smells luscious and oh-so delicious. Bonus: cool New Yorker Zoe Kravitz is the face of the fragrance. Preppy Princess ($45-$75) is available now at Sephora.com.
Nothing says “ready for summer” like a fresh slick of sunny yellow along the lash line. The best part? You don’t have to be Rachel McAdams to get away with this look. You can easily put together a statement beauty look with just a few makeup essentials. Break out your greens, pinks and purples, or experiment with every color in your beauty kit.
New York Fashion Week is officially underway, London is next, and Milan and Paris follow shortly thereafter. The truth is we couldn’t be more excited! While veteran brands such as Chanel and Lanvin are sure to deliver, we’re particularly eager to see up-and-coming brands such as Suno, old favorites like Marc Jacobs, not to mention cool kids like Rag & Bone. Who are you looking forward to?
Alexander Wang’s Spring 2011 Bags
It’s not often that we get this excited about a bag collection. Oh okay. It is all the time! In any case, we are overjoyed to see Alexander Wang’s spring bags have arrived at Net-A-Porter. Why do we love them? (a) They’re made from super-soft suede. (b) They come in unassuming neutrals such as taupe and dove-gray. (c) They’re covered in straps! What’s not to love?
On Sunday, February 27, stylish stars such as Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway, Michelle Williams, and Gwyneth Paltrow, just to name a few, will take to the red carpet. While we’ll pay attention to who wins what, we’re far more interested in who wears what. After all, as Rachel Zoe says, “If you’re going to use couture, it should be at the Academy Awards.”
In December, Carine Roitfeld stepped down from her role as editor of Vogue Paris. By early January, Emmanuelle Alt had been named as her successor. Although plenty of gossip has followed, we’d like to just make a note of how truly excited we are to see Alt at the helm. After all, she is always one of the most stylish sights on the fashion week circuit.
House Of Harlow 1960’s Spring 2011 Sunglasses
Nicole Richie is notorious for her love of sunglasses. Accordingly, we weren’t surprised to see her turn out a chic line of retro-glam eyewear for spring. From cat-eye frames to round Lennon-inspired frames (complete with temple chains), this is one spring accessory you must get your hands on! Luckily, they’re available now at Shopbop. Prices start at $110.
