Top Buys: Summer Vacation

Picture this. Next time you are packing for your summer vacation, instead of going back and forth about which dress to bring or which shoes to pack, you open your closet and pull out your already-edited collection of summer vacation essentials! If it sounds too good to be true, it isn’t. Many designers work around a similar concept. For instance, Donna Karan launched her eponymous label on the notion of creating “seven easy pieces” that could be mixed and matched to create a full wardrobe. On that note, we have pulled together ten essentials that we believe every girl should take on her summer vacation. Whether you are heading to a tropical island or just to your nearest beachside locale, we are sure these ten pieces will inspire you to create a vacation’s worth of stylish outfits! Read on!

When it comes time to pack, remember that the easiest pieces to bring on your vacation are lightweight and versatile. For instance, you should always make sure to pack a dress that can easily transition from a day out shopping to a night out, which is why we like French Connection’s Freida Floral Dress ($98)—it has a laidback vibe, a flattering silhouette, and a flirty print. Of course, you should also bring some stylish separates that can be mixed and matched. We think Yves Saint Laurent’s Cotton Blend Peasant Blouse ($539) is a great choice because the neutral color means it will go with everything. Another essential? A pair of dressy shorts with a boho vibe, such as Rare’s Folk Belted Shorts ($70). They will work perfectly on the beach, at the bar, or out to dinner. Of course, you should also make sure to bring a casual yet chic cover-up for when you are lounging by the pool or heading to the beach. We think Tolani’s Mosaic Silk Tunic Top ($180) checks all the right boxes!

When it comes to accessories, experienced jet-setters will agree that it is far better to stock up on accessories than clothes for one simple reason: the right accessory can transform an outfit from low-key to luxe. Plus, they don’t consume your suitcase! Firstly, make sure you pack a pair of chic sunglasses like Chloe’s Sunglasses ($236)—they are vital! Next, pick one piece of statement jewelry that stays true to your personal style. We like Kenneth Jay Lane’s Multi Color Charm Necklace ($80)—not only does it inject a pop of color, but it has a Bianca Jagger vibe! A glamorous clutch is crucial—even if you are just wearing a little black dress, a clutch that makes a statement—such as the Snake Suede & Leather Clutch ($1,095) by Marc Jacobs—will elevate your outfit instantly. As for shoes, you definitely want to make sure you pick up a pair that can handle a day by the beach and a night out dancing, which is why we like Loeffler Randall’s Lila Twisted Mignon Sandals ($295). They have plenty of panache, but they are still practical.

Finally, make sure you pick up a glamorous swimsuit that flatters your body and makes you feel amazing! We like Missoni Mare’s Victoria Crochet Knit Triangle Bikini ($395) but there are hundreds of options available. To finish, grab a beach bag that will hold everything you need—from your hotel key card to your sunglasses, from a towel to a good book. ASOS’s Multi Stripe Woven Holdall ($62.76) is worth checking out. Happy shopping!
