Spring is always a great time of year to step out of your comfort zone and into something new. At Mama’s A Rolling Stone, we are heralding the new season by taking on a bright and breezy spring trend: nude tones.
Neutral tones were scattered throughout the Spring 2010 runway shows; labels like Marc Jacobs (far left) and Erin Wasson x RVCA lead the way. Since then, several fashion-forward stars have also given their color palette a fresh start, including Rachel Bilson and Rihanna.
For you, the options are endless. Nude tones can be incorporated into your closet in a variety of ways. For the less-is-more personality, a platform pump in patent nude is the way to go. For the bolder among us, a bandage dress will highlight your feminine side. With that, we present to you March’s edition of our Trend Report.
In February, actress Alexis Bledel (second from left) headed to a movie premiere in a nude dress from H&M. She contrasted the feminine dress with a pair of tough, suede peep-toe booties. For a similar look, try Rare’s Chiffon Rara Dress ($98) with Vince Camuto’s Magena2 Peep Toe Booties ($79.18).
Earlier this year, Rachel Bilson (middle) went for a characteristically sweet ensemble, pairing a nude mini dress with grey knit tights and black pumps. The overall effect? Charming and chic. Grab this Petite Bow Detail Jersey Dress ($34.19) from Asos and then add a pair of UO’s Opaque Tights ($12). These Mary Janes ($166.90) by Pura Lopez will complete the look.
Late last year, Malin Akerman (second from right) went for a bold color combination while attending a movie premiere. Malin paired a bright, summery yellow with a draped nude skirt for a look that wowed the crowd. Start your outfit off with this Studded Drape Skirt ($295) by Charlotte Ronson and then add Thakoon’s Plisse Bustier ($970). Finish off the look with these Esther Pumps ($212.50) by Loeffler Randall.
Our final dose of inspiration comes from Rihanna, a girl who is fearless when it comes to fashion. As always, Rihanna looks on-point with her nude jumpsuit and strappy black sandals. Robert Rodriguez’s Cropped Jumpsuit ($495) is a stylish substitute, especially when paired with NYLA’s Serpens Strappy Sandal ($54.97).
