For the last few years there has been a real push in the fashion world for a more realistic vision, with much emphasis put on real people and real bodies; Urban Outfitters has picked up on this trend for its June 2010 catalog which features eight painters, writers, stylists, curators, actors and friends in their respective Los Angeles homes. While it might not be the most innovative idea, it goes give the catalog a heightened sense of realism which, in turn, is sure to make customers feel a little more in-tune with the sometimes-controversial company.
Back to the catalog: each of UO’s chosen eight moves around their quirky abodes, modeling clothes and accessories from the summer lineup. Amanny, a Utah-born stylist/artist with striking violet-hued hair, awkwardly dances alongside a bookshelf, while Lisa, a LA-born curatorial assistant, stands in a doorway in an array of prints and textures.
To give customers a little more insight, Urban Outfitters has interviewed the chosen eight on their lives, thoughts and inspiration. Read the interviews on the UO Blog and check out the June 2010 catalog at UrbanOutfitters.com.
