V Magazine #63: Doll Parts

January 26, 2010

Music and fashion have always gone hand in hand and there’s one notorious rock & roll star that just won’t disappear: Courtney Love. For Issue #63 of V Magazine, model Natasha Poly has paid tribute to Love in an editorial titled Doll Parts, styled by Panos Yiapanis and photographed by Glen Luchford.

Doll Parts, named after the Hole song, references the early nineties with floral prints and grungy ruffles, mixed with bleached blonde hair. Poly wears headpieces in each photograph that have been made from toy cars and Barbie doll legs.

I like the concept but I can’t help but wonder: where is the smudged makeup? Where are the crystal tiaras and ripped fishnets of 1992?

I like how they’ve captured the mood without the more dated eyeliner-fest look…

This editorial looks really cool. I love the outfits, especially the third and fourth ones.
