V Magazine: One Size Fits All

December 22, 2009

As we reported earlier this month, Issue 63 of V Magazine will celebrate women of all shapes and sizes – including plus-size – in a move that will no doubt spark many a conversation in the fashion industry.

Although the issue doesn’t hit newsstands until January 14th, a sneak peek of their One Size Fits All editorial has been released. Photographed by Terry Richardson, the story features Crystal Renn posing alongside Jacquelyn Jablonski. Renn is one of the world’s best-known plus-size models and recently penned a memoir, Hungry, on her experiences as a plus-sized model.

Renn and Jablonski are photographed alongside each other, striking similar poses and wearing identical outfits from designers like Ralph Lauren, Proenza Schouler and Dolce & Gabbana. In their quest to prove that fashion can flatter any and every figure, V Magazine released the measurements of Renn and Jablonski; both girls stand at the same height, with Renn measuring at 36-31-41 and Jablonski at 32.24.34.

Their facial features look very similar. No matter their size, it’s undeniable that both are striking and stunning!

I’ve always been a fan of fuller-figured models. There’s a great site with many images of Crystal and other plus-size models here:

    They’re all gorgeous.

The site’s forum also has thought-provoking discussions about body image and the media.

When I first saw these pictures, I didn’t think either of the models were “plus size.” Both models look like beautiful, healthy women, one is just on the thinner side. I think it’s great that this editorial features a “plus size” model, but I think it’s worth noting that plus size in the modeling world is still considered thinner than average in the real world.

That said, major bonus points to V Magazine!!
