Vogue March 2010: Logged On

Back in 2007, a rumor surfaced that Anna Wintour had banned Vogue staffers from using the world ‘blog.’ While I think we should all take those rumors with a grain of salt, it is definitely satisfying to see that nine fashion bloggers have been featured in Vogue’s March 2010 issue.

Bryanboy, Mary Tomer, Tommy Ton, Michelle Phan, Yvan Rodic, Todd Selby, Hanneli, Catherine Kallon and Garance Dore have all made it in the fashion world. These nine fashion bloggers, from all corners of the globe, appear in Vogue’s “Logged On” editorial, which focuses on the rise of the fashion blogger and how the industry has had to open up to the blogosphere.

For me, this is yet another reason why Vogue’s March 2010 issue is one of their best in a long time. I can’t help but love the fact that they’re featuring bloggers. What do you think? Is it time for Vogue and other magazines to acknowledge the presence that fashion bloggers have in the industry?

You can watch a behind-the-scenes video of the fashion shoot on Vogue.com.

I think the fashion industry has so far acknowledged the presence of bloggers with open arms. The fact that a lot of them have been invited to fashion week, and that most of them like sea of shoes has been given the opportunity to have her own shoe line is incredible. Blogging is the way of the future and a lot of people are jumping on that bandwagon…and people are starting young

I wondered similar things when I saw this in the magazine – but it seems Vogue has also strategically chosen it’s bloggers – as much as I love the blogs that are featured, they are definitely closer to traditional media than blogs like Style Rookie (overused example i know), which are far more “bloggy” or personal. or am i just being paranoid?

Just because of this feature, I’m buying the issue now. Our very own Bryan Boy is there too. Yay for Manila Philippines. xoxo

I would love for there to be a greater public dialogue between bloggers and fashion editors. I think this pushes that along.

I agree with Hannahlizabeth’s comment. No disrespect to the bloggers Vogue choose, but this group blogs in the image & style of Vogue on the big collections with the big budgets.
Ironically, Michelle Phan hasn’t even been blogging that much. She has said she has been “uninspired.”

hi bryna! you probably already know this, but if not, in the march issue of vogue, you get a pretty nice shout-out. in the article about model off-duty style, they specifically mention that mama’s a rolling stone has covered lily donaldson’s street style in the past. congrats!
