Newly-launched label Of Two Minds are currently being featured as part of Shopbop’s designer lookbook series. Our eyes were instantly drawn to their Spring 2010 collection, the first for the brand, and its cool mix of closet staples and stylish stand-out pieces.
Based in LA, the brand was founded by Desanka Fasiska and Stephanie Tran. Fasiska is known for her eponymous contemporary label, while Tran established her place in the fashion industry by designing for the A Common Thread contemporary line.
Fasiska and Tran were brought together by A Common Thread’s owner, Tony Graham, who thought the girls could fuse their talents into a singular vision. According to Fasiska, that vision was to create a line that is “edited but hits all the key categories. A perfect top, the perfect pants, a great little dress.”
The girls use a tag-team method of passing the clothes back and forth to create a consistent mix that melds both their aesthetics. While Tran works on the surface textures and textiles, Fasiska perfects the silhouettes and styling. Despite their varying tasks, they have one girl in mind when creating the line: “She’s effortless, with edge. She’s Paris but with an LA twist. It is rock & roll but 1970s cool. Fashionable but not overdone.”
If you love Of Two Minds as much as we do, check them out at Shopbop. Our favorites: the Stretch Lace Corset Top ($276) pictured above in the first photo and the Reconstructed Army Jacket ($322), which is actually a deadstock Army jacket that Tran reworked.
