Yves Saint Laurent are ready to prove they are ahead of the environmental curve with the launch of their new, environmentally-conscious capsule collection, New Vintage II. The second collection follows the successful launch of the first New Vintage collection from YSL, which sold out at Barneys New York within a week and half of its June 2009 launch date.
The idea behind the New Vintage collection is simple. The YSL team, led by Creative Director Stefano Pilati, creates new, modern versions of their past silhouettes using completely unused fabrics from the YSL archives. The limited-edition collection – which runs the gamut from dresses through to jackets through to trousers – consists of 121 pieces.
Apart from the obvious, environmentally-conscious aspect, which is of course a bonus, the line is sold at a lower price-point than its modern counterparts. The collection is available at YSL flagship boutiques in New York, Paris and London under the label New Vintage II.
