Fashion Insider: Taylor Tomasi-Hill

Fashion week is often times a sea of all-black ensembles, but in the midst of that, you’ll find Marie Claire’s always-stylish accessories editor Taylor Tomasi-Hill making a statement with bursts of bright color, bold accessories, surprising ensembles, and, of course, a shock of red hair. Happily, today’s Fashion Insider story is devoted to exploring Taylor’s style—direct from the streets of Paris, where plenty of street style magic takes place! So, sit back, check out four of Taylor’s best outfits, and prepare to be inspired!

1. In September, Taylor was spotted at Paris Fashion Week wearing a slew of fashion-forward accessories—specifically, cat-eye sunglasses, a leopard clutch, a statement necklace, an oversized Ben-Amun cuff, and beige Rochas heels—which she mixed with a color-block button-down shirt and skinny jeans. By building her outfit from top to toe, Taylor created a fashion-forward outfit without looking like she even tried. To assemble a similar outfit, tuck Rag & Bone’s Classic Shirt ($185) into J Brand’s 912 Low-Rise Skinny Jeans ($200), and then pile on the accessories. We like Betsey Johnson’s Cat Eye Sunglasses ($65), Jennifer Elizabeth’s Brass Athena Necklace ($195), ASOS’s Leather & Leopard Print Clutch ($112.06) and Boutique 9’s Helene Caged Booties ($200).

2. Clearly, Paris brings out the best in Taylor. For proof, take a quick look at the second outfit above, which Taylor wore during Paris Fashion Week in September. Her edgy leather harness is perfectly balanced by the soft silhouette of her black sweater and Ann Demeulemeester skirt. The result is an ensemble that is innovative and daring all at once. Take a page from Taylor’s book by pairing Banana Republic’s Long-Sleeve Skinny Tee ($29.50) with Rachel Pally’s Long Full Skirt ($198) or Topshop’s Red Stained Glass Print Maxi Skirt ($50). Then, give your outfit that extra edge by adding Collina Strada’s Quurra Harness ($323) and a pair of Elizabeth & James’ E-Shine Calf Hair Booties ($129.90).

3. Taylor has become known for her fearless sense of style and her penchant for piling on the accessories. Example? At a Paris Fashion Week show in September, Taylor was spotted wearing a draped leather skirt, aubergine turtleneck sweater, an oversized stack of cross necklaces, and bold color-block cuffs. We think her outfit strikes the perfect balance between bold and beautiful. To pull off an equally chic look, pair Halogen’s Funnel Neck Sweater ($9.97) with Whistles’ Alexis Leather Skater Skirt ($301.70) or Topshop’s Premium Black Paperbag Waistband Belted Leather Skirt ($170). Then, simply add Dannijo’s Lovani Necklace ($625) and two House Of Harlow 1960 Tribal Cuff Bracelets ($220), one on each wrist.

4. If we had to say what we love most about Taylor’s style, it is the way she doesn’t lean towards any one style. From preppy to edgy to clean and classic, Taylor is a fashion enigma who stuns at every turn. Case in point: last year, Taylor wore a preppy plaid shirt with a boyfriend blazer, leather pants and edgy ankle boots. The overall look is modern and feels really fresh! For a similarly cool look, layer Madewell’s Grid-Paper Boyshirt ($110) under ASOS’s Tailored Cropped Boyfriend Blazer ($86.20). Finish your look with Blank Denim’s Leather Skinny Pants ($158) or Helmut Lang’s Jersey & Leather Combo Leggings ($690) and a pair of Sam Edelman’s Zoe Boots ($198).
