It Girl: Jessica Alba

Though there are a flock of fashionable femmes in Hollywood, we routinely find ourselves looking to actress Jessica Alba for inspiration, thanks to her ever-expanding catalog of perfect party ensembles, polished red-carpet looks, and casual-yet-chic off-duty outfits. As such, it seems only natural to dedicate our latest It Girl story to her. We love the way Jessica moves effortlessly between modern mother and Hollywood starlet; on any given day, you might find Jessica playing in the park with daughter Honor, wearing a sundress and sandals, or posing on the red carpet for a throng of photographers, sporting a sequined minidress and platform heels. To sum up, we’re sure, no matter what your lifestyle, you’ll find plenty of inspiration from this month’s stylish subject. With that, we present It Girl: Jessica Alba. Read on!

Back in August, Jessica was spotted out and about in Beverly Hills, wearing a stylish ensemble of pieces—military-green boyfriend pants, a white tee and a mocha cardigan. While we obviously love this trio in itself, we’re particularly captivated by Jessica’s accessories—namely, a statement necklace, leather sandals, and two-tone bowler bag. To recreate this uncomplicated and chic ensemble, pick out a pair of loose-fit green pants, such as AG Adriano Goldschmied’s Cropped Boyfriend Pants ($215) or Lucky Brand’s Civilian Skinny Boyfriend Chino Pant ($79.50), and layer them underneath CeCe’s Denim Cashmere V-Neck Long Boyfriend Cardigan ($116.99) and Splendid’s Knot Tunic ($48). Finish with a slew of accessories—we like Tuleste Market’s Gold Hammered Square Link Necklace ($109.99), Miss Me’s Kiki-18 Thong Sandal ($22.52) and Topshop’s Two Tone Large Holdall Bag ($100).

Unsurprisingly, Jessica is just as adept at dressing for the red-carpet as she is for a day out shopping. Living proof: in July, Jessica posed for photographers at the Boss Black Show in Berlin, Germany, wearing a pretty sundress and platform sandals. The result? Timeless with a modern twist. For a similarly stylish outfit, start with a polished sundress such as Moschino’s Mock-Wrap Ruffle Dress ($199), Anne Klein New York’s Shattered Glass Cotton Dress ($125.99) or Victoria’s Secret’s Daytime Jersey Sleeveless Wrap Dress ($55). Next, add a pair of strappy platform sandals—we like Chinese Laundry’s Momento Sandals ($60) and Pura Lopez’s S155 Platform Sandals ($319.51). To finish, add Elegantly Waisted’s Tucker Hip Wrap Belt ($125.40).

Another reason to love Jessica? She never settles for any one style. Forget pretty and polished sundresses—for the Los Angeles premiere of her film, Machete, Jessica went for a bold, confident look: namely, a sequined Balmain minidress, which she smartly accessorized with chunky Christian Louboutin heels and Anndra Neen braclets. For a similarly edgy look, start with a gold minidress such as Winter Kate’s Nicole Sequin Dress ($795), See By Chloe’s Short Dress ($290), or BCBGMaxAzria’s Sequined Cheetah-Print Dress ($598). Complete your look with a stack of House Of Harlow 1960’s Cabochon Bangles ($150), a pair of strappy heels—we like Chinese Laundry’s Lucky Strike Sandals ($80.06) and Mea Shadow’s Lucrezia Platform Sandals ($172)—and plenty of confidence.

There’s nothing we like more than a celebrity who has mastered the art of the high/low mash-up. Spotted out and about in Camarillo, California, in April, Jessica sported a blue floral Madewell dress, which she paired with zippered biker boots and a leather bomber jacket. The overall effect? Part boho, part rock & roll. For a similar look, layer a floral dress such Juicy Couture’s Felicity Floral Dress ($161) or Madewell’s Fall Forest Dress ($148) underneath a leather bomber—we like Muubaa’s Scoop Neck Leather Bomber Jacket ($404.40) and Levi’s Ribbed Faux Leather Bomber Jacket ($138). Finish off your outfit with chunky boots such as Jeffrey Campbell’s Harness Harley Boots ($268) or Ksubi’s Ripper Boots ($500).

Question: what do we love most about Jessica’s style? To put it simply, her ability to elevate every outfit from straightforward to stand-out. Case in point: last month, Jessica dropped into Sirius XM Studio in New York City wearing a subtly sexy ensemble. We love how she dressed up her tapered pants with a slightly sheer top and killer heels. The look is simple and sophisticated. For a similarly chic outfit, start with Jessica’s exact Yigal Azrouel Suiting Trousers ($540) or, for a budget-friendly alternative, Topshop’s Jet Pocket Tapered Trousers ($60). Then, add BB Dakota’s Cartersville Leather Jacket ($238) and Fluxus’s Jersey Sheer Wax V-Neck Top ($62). Complete your outfit with edgy footwear—we like Nine West’s Zola Heels ($150) and Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania + Melissa 3 Straps Elevated III Shoes ($194).
